The renowned poet Vaali who has penned numerous songs for the tinsel world, has showcased his spiritual leanings by authoring poems on the 45th Azhagiyasingar the 45th pontiff of Ahobila Mutt who passed away recently.
Poet Vaali’s ‘Vasana Kavithai’ on the life and times of Sri Narayana Yatheendra Mahadesikan, the 45th Azhagiyasingar of Sri Ahobila Mutt was released at a glittering function at the Music Academy here on Friday. Celebrities from diverse streams participated and lauded Vali;s literary genius.
The function, began with singer Chinmayee’s rendition of some of Vaali’s Vasana Kavithai. The book Srimad Azhagiyasingar-45th pontiff, brought out by Kumudham Publications, was released by former Attorney-General of India K Parasaran and the first copy was received by columnist S Gurumurthy.
Eulogizing the poet’s literary efforts and reading out extracts from the book Parasaran said that in the present kali yuga, the only path to attaining salvation lay in regularly visiting temples or following in the achariyan’s footsteps.
Drawing a distinction between ‘old’ and ‘traditional’, Gurumurthy pointed out that it is the traditional spiritual and acharya traditions that would protect the country and help in maintaining peace.
Chairman and MD of Kumudam Varadarajan also received a copy of the book.
