Rane launches power steering fluid

Vehicle-users who drive power steering need not worry any more as they are assured only the best for their car and for their power steering: India’s No.1 steering manufacturer, Rane Group, has launched its first-ever power steering fluid for the Indian market – Power Cruze Fluid.

The product has hit the market after six months of thorough R&D, field tests using 85 cars and feedback from its 18 regional offices. Rane, which started in 1989 with automobile and parts distribution, later moved on to introduce products like gear, pump, reservoir and now, power steering Fluid.

When asked why Rane, which specialises in car safety products, suddenly decided to launch an oil, which is a product out of its league, Rane TRW Systems Ltd MD Harish Lakshman said, “We are experts in steering systems and get complaints of dubious oil in the market. We want to eliminate that with the knowledge we have. We want end-customer satisfaction and increasing the life of the product.”

Using ‘Power Cruze Fluid’ saves on repair cost, eases steering by eliminating jerks and squeals, gives quiet, smooth easy drive and varies viscosity which changes with temperature. The fluid should be used every 75,000 km which varies according to vehicle size. For instance, trucks require 3 litres of ‘Power Cruze Fluid’ regularly as they carry goods to and fro in and out of Chennai.

The fluid will be sold at Rs 239 in bottles of 1 litre at major motor companies like Sundaram Motors, IMPDL, TVS and JMA. “We plan to produce 1 million litres of Power Cruze Fluid in the next three years. This industry alone is worth Rs 150-200 crore. However, we target Rs 50 crores in five years,” said Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd marketing manager P B Rajan.

Rane TRW Company is a 50:50 JV of Indian Rane Group and US-based TRW Company.
