Food festival at Accord

The convention to celebrate the birthday of a city is a recent one and Madrasis are all set to celebrate its birthday on August 22. The celebration has gained momentum over the years and many schools, colleges and hotels are actively organising events, workshops, food festivals and heritage walks to enlighten the public about old Madras.

The British governed us for many years and influenced our lives in several spheres. Some of our gastronomic delights are the legacy of the British and they are also influenced by our platter pleasures.

Hotel Accord Metropolitan, Chennai, is involved in capturing the British delights by organising a food festival - dishing out rare delicacies like Kedgeree, Dak Bungalow Curry, Railway Mutton Curry, etc.

To showcase the cultural ethos of the city and express its love for the vibrant metropolis, Accord Metropolitan is hosting the food festival from August13-22.

Called the ‘English August’ because the birthday of Madras falls in August, it will bring to life and recreate old Madras and the ambience will give us an inkling of how it would have appeared. To dine in that era is an experience by itself.

Embark on a culinary journey and explore the exotic dishes of the British cuisine.
