WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO NEXT? This is a very common question which everyone would have faced at some point in our life. We posted the same question to  a few senior secondary students who are on the final year  of their schooling and received quite interesting answers.

Students of today are well informed and highly analytical. Around 50% of the students we met made clear that they are not into engineering. The recent scenario faced by engineers serves to be the major reason behind this reduced craze for engineering. Yet there also exist a set of students with an aspiration to become engineers and they mainly prefer branches like Civil,Mechanical,ECE,CSE etc. Medicine retains it's audience to a larger extent. We could find a very good number of students interested in pursuing a career in Medicine. Besides MBBS; Nursing,BDS and traditional medicine like Siddha and Ayurveda were also voted by students as their choice of interest.

On the other side there is an increasing demand for various arts and science courses among students. Students are highly interested in courses like Bsc Computer Science, Chemistry, Maths ,BA English etc. There is an increase in percentage of students preferring arts and science courses to professional courses. The students of Commerce and Economics are aspiring for a career as a Charted Accountant. Few other students under this category are looking ahead for a Bachelor degree in Commerce.

We should not fail to notice that the number of students choosing Diploma  are also increasing constantly. This largely owes to the increasing demand for diploma holders. At times certain companies choose diploma holders over engineers because of the practical technical skills possessed by students of diploma. Besides these B.Arch, BBA etc are among other mentioned courses. Some students also expressed their interest in fashion designing and hotel management. We also came across student who wanted to take unique diversed paths like sports, painting and music for a career. We also found few students planning to take government exams which includes TNPSC, BANKING Examinations etc after pursuing their degree.

However after talking with the students it became clear that they all are involved in the process of channelizing their talents. Students nowadays are highly experimental. The students today are highly adventurous and they don't want to take a road that's already taken. The world today is highly competitive and we could find that the students have already started preparing themselves for it. The students are matured enough to recognize their talent and are choosing careers that would help them develop their talent.Isn't this a change for good?
