Citizen watches step into outer space

Citizen Watches (India) Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Citizen Watches, Japan, launched its latest collections – Super Titanium and Satellite Wave – in the presence of seven times world billiards and snooker champion Pankaj Advani.

Citizen Watches Pvt Ltd managing director Katsusuke Tokura said, “Basel World 2011, has been marked with great technological breakthrough and our watches received international accolades. Globally, we continue to bring in new models with our focus on environment-friendly technologies. Eco-Drive remains our flagship technology. There is no single watch brand anywhere in the world similar to Eco-Drive which has chosen the green path. Today, I am happy that we have another path-breaking Super Titanium Watch.”

Citizen’s Eco-Drive Satellite Wave, a limited edition watch with a totally new timekeeping system, is a Gen-Next timepiece. It searches for one of the navigation satellites that orbit the earth. It captures the day, date and time signals the satellite emits from space, 20,000 km above the earth. Since the satellite signals are controlled by atomic clocks, this watch’s timekeeping is ultra precise. These navigation satellites orbit the earth once every 12 hours. So, this watch receives signals from any open space, even in the boundless seas or atop the world’s highest peak.

Pankaj Advani, recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, Padmashree and Arjuna awards said, “I am delighted to be part of Citizen’s eighty-year-old global legacy through this product launch. Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology promoting a clean and green environment is also a cause close to my heart. Super Titanium is exemplary of excellent craftsmanship and the limited edition of the Satellite Wave watch is an unmatched masterpiece. I am very confident that these watches will be a huge success.”

Eco-Drive Super Titanium uses the latest generation of a material which has low weight and robust resistance. The watch has an exceptional design with quality materials and advanced technology which took two years to perfect. Satellite Wave is powered by light.

The energy that drives Eco-Drive watch is supplied by a light cell which converts any type of light into electricity. This current is stored in a rechargeable storage cell which serves as an energy source. Citizen utilises suitable alternative to disposable batteries and promotes green technology to protect the environment.
