Truly a grandma’s place

What is the next best thing to spending your formative years with your mother? Being with your grandma, of course. She has twice the love of the mother, who is her child. So, V G Suri hit upon the idea of opening a day care centre for children whose mothers are working women.

Along with Preetha Suri, he opened Kanchana Paati My Grandma’s Place in 2006 and the crèche has grown to having 14 centres now, including in some upmarket areas like Adyar, Anna Nagar, T Nagar, Kilpauk, Alwarpet, Lambert Nagar, Mogappair, Tamarai IT Park and Velachery.

Kanchana Paati My Grandmother’s House at No. 5, Pragadhambal Street, Nungambakkam, typically, has the environment of a grandma’s house.

Suri says that they are supporting working women by looking after their children. Their main purpose is to reduce the stress of the mother after maternity leave. He states that they take care of children from the 91st day of their birth. They not only take care of the children but also provide healthy food during breakfast and lunch and provide snacks and juices.

The timing is between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. They have ‘My First School’ for pre-school children and ‘My Activity Centre’ for training them in arts, crafts, music, dance, chess, karate, creative writing and public speaking. They also hold summer vacation camps.

They train their staff to take care of the children with affection and kindness. They have customer care to improve their services.
