Sanjay knows the secret of luring the audience with his musical acumen. His concert at Hanumath Jayanthi music fest at the 32 ft Anjaneyar temple Nanganallur was awesome for its sowkyam and creativity.
He warmed up with a Varnam in Kambhoji ‘Sarasijanabha’ followed by an exposition of Khamas for ‘Brochevarevarura’ by Mysore Vasudevachariar. The elaborate raga alapana was replete with frills.
‘Ambarame Thaneere’ a Tiruppavai in Kalyani was garnished with elaborate raga delineation.
The diadem of the recital was ‘Koluvaiyunnade’ in Bhairavi by Tyagaraja. His delineation was suffused with the beauty of the raga and his blitzkrieg swaras soaked the audience in the ethos of music and was entrenched in classical music and values of classicism.
Violinist S Varadarajan, who regularly accompanies Sanjay, followed him gracefully like a shadow.
The ever peppy Neyveli Venkatesh on the mridangam played in sync with the rest of team with his adroit strokes.
Alathur Raja Ganesh on the kanjira played with aplomb.
The tani of Venkatesh and Raja thundered like a storm made vibrant with a variety of rhythmic inputs.
