Music and Navarathri

Swati Tirunal Navarathri Kritis

Maharaja Swati Tirunal was a scion of the Kerala royal family who, besides ruling the State of Travancore (as it was called those days), was a connoisseur and a patron of fine arts.

He has composed several pieces in Carnatic and Hindustani genres of music.

A polyglot, he was a versatile genius.

His Navarathri Kritis are famous and sung by musicians, especially during Navarathri.

After invoking lord Ganesha, he sets off to compose the rest.
