Chennai, August 13: The Arasu Cable TV is working quietly and effectively, according to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
In a question-answer-type statement released today, he responded to a question by CPI state secretary T Pandian that Arasu Cable TV should be ‘revived’, as per the assurance given in the state Assembly.
The Chief Minister has clarified that the cable TV was not stopped for it to be revived. Since it was government cable TV, it was functioning without publicity even now, he explained.
There are 50,000 cable connections through Arasu Cable TV, he responded.
Former chief minister and now Opposition leader J Jayalalithaa (AIADMK) had recently raised the issued in a statement and asked for the government response to the issue. She charged that the cable TV, which she alleged was started to cut the ground from under their family rival Sumangali Cable Vision, had lost steam after a family patch up. She wanted to know the status of Arasu Cable TV now.
