Chennai, August 4: The DMK government proved once again that it was succeeding in attracting investments to the state of Tamil Nadu.
Three corporates have come forward to set up industries in Tamil Nadu at a total investment of Rs 13,000 crore that would provide job opportunities for more than 8,000 people.
According to a government statement today, Indian Oil Corporation, Videocon and J K Tyres signed memoranda of understanding with the government to set up three different factories in Tamil Nadu.
Indian Oil Corporation would be setting up the facility in Kattupalli, near Ennore Port, to supply piped natural gas and provide job opportunities to nearly 7,000 people. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin today.
In the case of Videocon, it is setting up a factory under Unity Appliances Limited company to produce plasma, LCD and other TVs along with home appliances. This factory, to be set up at Manamadurai SIPCOT industrial park, would directly provide jobs for close to 1,000 people.
J K Tyres is to set up its factory at Sriperumbudur in Kancheepuram district. It would be investing Rs 1,500 crore in the project over five years.
