Chennai, August 16: Noted actor Kamal Haasan celebrated the 64th Independence Day in his office in Chennai yesterday. He hoisted the national flag in front of his fans and distributed sarees, sewing machines, a three-wheeler, freezer box, napkin machine among other things which were donated by his fans.
A napkin machine was provided by Krishnagiri district fans and the freezer box by fans from Karnataka.
Puducherry fans contributed Rs 15,000 each to two persons for heart operation.
Fans from north Chennai gave Rs 10,000 to help two students, while fans from Rasipuram handed over books for 330 students. Tirunelveli fans gave Rs 10,000 to student Jasmine for higher studies.
Tiruvannamalai fans provided a sewing machine and Pudukottai fans contributed Rs 5,000 to a deaf and dumb school towards construction of a water tank.
East Kancheepuram handed over sewing machines and sarees to the needy.
