District Pricipal Session Court Judge Adinathan today dismissed the bail application of M R P Ravanan, who was arrested in a cheating case of Rs ten lakh filed by government contractor Ravikumar recently.M R P Ravanan (52) was once an influential man in the ten districts of Western Tamil Nadu and close relative of Sasikala Natarajan, former close aide of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
When bail application came before the court, the prosecution side objected to granting bail stating that the police had planned to take him into custody for some time for more interrogation.
The amount of Rs ten lakh which was allegedly taken by Ravanan had not been recovered, the prosecution said, adding the accused being an influential person might destroy the witness if he was granted bail.
