TN Govt. appeals to striking employees

CHENNAI, JUNE 13TH 

The State government on Tuesday   stressed  in the Assembly its request to a section of government employees and teachers, who have been protesting in the Ezhilagam complex here, to withdraw their stir and return to work.

In his reply to the special calling attention motion moved by DMK working president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin regarding the protest by the Joint Action Council of Teachers Organisations and Government Employees Organisations (JACTO-GEO), Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the House O. Panneerselvam (also holding the finance portfolio) reiterated the government’s appeal to the protesting  staff..

 

About 70% of the State’s revenue was being spent on salaries of government employees and on pensions, and only 6% was being used for welfare schemes, he added.
