New Delhi, July 25: Even as Speaker Meira Kumar called an all-party meeting to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament during the Monsoon Session beginning tomorrow, the Opposition is girding up its loins to raise contentious issues.
Major Opposition leader from the BJP, Sushma Swaraj, made it clear that her party would raise the escalating price issue on the very first day of the session that would last till August 27. Other issues that are likely to figure are the delayed and inadequate justice in the Bhopal gas leak case and the government misusing the CBI to carry out its dictates.
The other burning issue is the bill on 33 per cent women’s reservation in legislatures which was passed in the previous session in the Upper House, the Rajya Sabha.
Despite the threat from the Opposition parties, Parliamentary Affairs Minister V Narayanaswamy was unfazed and said the government was prepared to take on the Opposition assault.
