Patna, July 21: The helpless Speaker of the Bihar Assembly, who merely watched with misgivings the bedlam happening around him in the House yesterday, was given a raw deal today - a slipper was hurled at him.
Speaker Uday Narain Choudhary suspended 67 of the protesting MLAs for the rest of the Monsoon Session that ends July 24.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Left party MLAs who continued their protests inside the House for the second consecutive day, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accused of corruption, were bundled out by marshals.
Nitish Kumar and 47 others have been named in a complaint alleging misuse of Rs 11,412 crore meant for Bihar’s development.
Yesterday, 14 Opposition law-makers were suspended from the Bihar Legislative Council for unruly behaviour.
The MLAs had created a ruckus in the House yesterday by throwing chairs and tearing up paper. A few of them neatly uprooted the table in the well of the House and tried to fling it.
