Hyderabad, August 8: Life in nine districts of Andhra Pradesh has been affected with the Godavari rising to an alarming level. Floods in the river in the last three days have claimed 10 lives.
Khammam and East Godavari districts are the worst affected.
Eight deaths were reported in Warangal district while two were reported in Adilabad district. Standing crops in over 30,000 hectares were damaged.
Due to incessant rains in the Maharashtra catchment areas, the water level in the Godavari river continued to rise at several places in Andhra Pradesh.
A third warning has been issued as the water level crossed the danger level of 53 feet in the temple town of Bhadrachalam. A second warning was issued at Davaleswarm barrage in East Godavari district where the water level touched 16.15 ft, against the danger level of 17.15 ft.
