Lalit Modi suspended by BCCI

Mumbai, April 25: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acted swifly after the conclusion of the Twenty20 Indian Premier League-3 tournament and suspend the IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi at the end of the final and issued a show-cause notice to him tonight. He was informed of the suspension through e-mail.

During the course of the day, Lalit Modi appeared to be on top of the problem. Modi, who had earlier dubbed as “illegal” the governing council meeting that was convened to take action against him tomorrow, had decided to attend it.

Furthermore, he had also set the agenda for the meeting askoing the governing council members to give their complaints in writing and substantiate them with documents.

"Members of the Governing Council have been requested to give all such complaints in writing with the requisite supporting documents at the meeting on the morning of April 26 to the Chairman and Commissioner, so they can be replied in full," Modi said in a statement.

This put the ball in the court of the BCCI, whose governing council was to decide on Modi’s fate tomorrow as he had refused to quit as the Twenty20 league chairman and commissioner following allegations of wrongdoings against him.

But the latest twist to the tale of the money-spinning IPL is that Modi may not be allowed to attend the governing council meeting tomorrow as he is no longer the chairman and commissioner of the league.
