BCCI governing council to decide on Modi

New Delhi/Mumbai, April 20: It is now over to the Indian Premier League governing council that will take a “collective and unanimous” decision on the future of Lalit Modi as IPL chairman and commissioner.

Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sharad Pawar and his successor Shashank Manohar said this afternoon after a crucial meeting in New Delhi that the governing council meeting in Mumbai would take the important decision on Monday.

Modi was back in Mumbai from Dubai today after attending the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting as India’s alternative director on behalf of the BCCI president.

“There is no chance of resigning. I will present all my facts at the governing council meeting,” Modi told reporters at the airport after landing from Dubai.

Pawar had a one-on-one meeting with Manohar and senior member Arun Jaitley during the day.

Pawar said, “Our approach should be to protect the interests of Indian cricket, cricket-loving public and players, including up and coming players.”

Besides Modi, the all-powerful 14-member IPL governing council includes Manohar, BCCI secretary N Srinivisan, IPL vice-chairman Niranjan Shah, ICC principal adviser Inderjit Singh Bindra, BCCI treasurer M P Pandove, BCCI vice-presidents Chirayu Amin and Arun Jaitley, BCCI joint secretary Sanjay Jagdale, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association president Farooq Abdullah, chairman of media and finance committee Shukla and former India captains Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri.
