Navi Mumbai, April 24: Royal Challengers Bangalore secured the third spot in the Twenty20 Indian Premier League – 3 losing semifinal and qualified for the Champions League T20 tournament after they beat Deccan Chargers by 9 wickets here tonight.
Electing to bat, Deccan Chargers floundered and kept losing wickets. They managed to make just 82 in 18.3 overs.
Though Anirudh Singh top-scored with 40 off 39 balls and Venugopal Rao contributed 24, it was the RCB bowlers who dominated: Anil Kumble took 4 wickets, while Praveen Kumar and Jacques Kallis took 2 wickets each. Kumble was declared the man of the match.
It was cakewalk for the Bangalore team while batting. Chasing a victory target of 83, they reached 86/1 in just 13.5 overs. Rahul Dravid remained unbeaten on 35, and Kevin Pietersen was not out on 29.
