West Indies reverses losing streak

West Indies finally managed to score a victory in the third one day international at Ahmedabad played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad and keep the series alive at 2 -1 in the Five Match series.  The West Indies bowlers dominated both the bat and the ball to give the visitors the much needed victory

West Indies managed 260 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs propelled by a late surge in the last six overs that produced 79 runs.  The Indian pacers dominated most part of the West Indies innings but skipper Sammy and  AD Russell put the sword in the Indian attack in the dying overs.  Sammy took 23 runs off the Mithun over.  Samuels scored 58 of 93 deliveries with (5 fours and one six).  Bravo retired hurt when he was on 26.  Sammy and Russells scored 41 (of 17 balls, 5 fours and 2 sixes) and 40 (unbeaten of 18 balls, 4 fours and 2 sixes) respectively.  Vinay Kumar took 2 for 39.India was down the stumps chasing 261 for victory  losing Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag cheaply.  Partiv Patel made 39 (35 balls with 7 fours).  Rohit Sharma once again tried to pull off victory for India and found a willing partner in Ashwin.  Their seventh wicket partnership yielded 91 runs with Ashwin making 31.  Rohit Sharma fell for 95 through a direct hit by Sammy.  His valiant knock at 10 fours and a six of 100 deliveries and the exit at 216 as the ninth wicket signaled the end for India.  The last wicket pair took the score to 244 before Mithun fell leg before to Rampaul.  Mithun hit (2 fours and 2 sixes) in 16 balls to score 23 runs. India fell short by 16 runs with 3.1 overs left.  Ravi Rampaul took 4 for 57.  Debutant Sunil Narine took 2 for 34.Ravi Rampaul was declared the Man of the Match.
