Adelaide, January 24th
Once again Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke hammered the hapless Indian bowling with an unbroken 251 runs for the 4th wicket stand on the opening day of the fourth and final cricket test match against India. Australia won the toss and decided to bat on a benign Adelaide oval wicket. Opener David Warner was soon back in the pavilion falling leg before to Zahir Khan. Ashwin sent back Shaun Marsh and Ed Cowan to put Australia in a spot of bother for 84 for 3. After that it was the Aussie skipper and his predecessor who dominated the proceedings and knocking of their respective centuries. Ponting scored his 41st century and remained unbeaten on 137 while Clarke cracked his 19th century to be on 140 at close of stumps. Clarke scored his runs in 188 balls with the aide of 19 fours and a six. Ashwin was the most successful Indian bowler with 2 for 81.
