Australia 2 – 0 up;

 The inevitable happened but India could salvage some pride in the bargain that it would manage to score 400 runs in the second innings.  India did suffer the humiliation of an innings defeat by 68 runs and Australia is in an unassailable situation with 2 – 0 lead in the four test match series.  India now moved to Perth for the third test, where the wickets are reputed to be very pacy.Resuming at an overnight score of 114 for 2, India progressed with Gautham Gambhir till 168 before Gambhir went for 83 runs.  The third wicket stand had produced 68 runs.  Then Laxman joined Sachin Tendulkar and the two put on 103 runs for the stand of the fourth wicket before Sachin Tendulkar missed out on his ton of centuries once again falling for 80 runs to Clarke.  Laxman  did not last long and departed for 66 runs before becoming the fifth victim at 276.  Ashwin provided the resistance from the lower order batsmen scoring 62 valuable runs.  Zahir scored a quick fire 35 of 26 balls.  Ashwin became the fifth victim for Hilfenhaus and with him the Indian innings folded up at 400 runs.  Hilfenhaus took 5 for 106 and was supported by Siddle 2 for 88.Michel Clarke was the Man of the Match.
